Lies Veiled as Opinions

With the gradual but steady creep of cultural relevance, nothing (Except Global Warming/Climate Change, Racism, and Fascism) is any longer to be considered a fact; all things are to be considered opinions.

Private firearms ownership exists in Western countries since that has been an integral part of those societies.
-Well, (We are told) that's an opinion.

With the gradual but steady creep of pure dishonesty in our daily lives, individuals no longer have any fear of being called out for telling outright lies.

The combination of turning all things into opinions and the abandonment of any consequences for making statements that the speaker himself could in no way believe has created the perfect storm.

Harry Reid:

“Who is the tea party? Well, understand, when I was in school, I studied government, among other things, and prior to World War I and after World War I we had the anarchists,” Reid began. “Now they were violent — you know, some say that’s what started World War I, the anarchy moment — but they were violent. They did damage to property and they did physical damage to people.”

The modern anarchists don’t do that — that’s the tea party,” Reid clarified. “But they have the same philosophy as the early anarchists: They do not believe in government. Anytime anything bad happens to government, that’s a victory to them. And that’s what’s happened. We have absolute gridlock created by a group of people who represent few Americans. But it makes it extremely difficult to get things done.”

In a radio interview in which he lamented the GOP filibusters and a gridlock in Congress, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he hopes Republicans who oppose the president do so “based on substance and not the fact that he’s an African-American.”

Oprah Winfrey:
Note that the scale of savage torture and murder of Emmett Till was immeasurably cheapened by this particular lie of Oprah's, but she is OK with that.

"While promoting her new movie “The Butler,” Oprah Winfrey told The Grio that the death of Trayvon Martin was the “same thing” as the lynching of 14-year-old Emmett Till for allegedly flirting with a white woman in 1955, National Review Online first reported.

“Let me just tell you — in my mind, same thing,” she said in a preview of the interview on MSNBC......"

Trayvon Martin fallout:
A painter (I will not use the term artist) made a mural that depicted a man that I guess is supposed to be George Zimmerman shooting Martin execution- style.

The following tops Pathological Liar (I mean Chairman) of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Demspey's lie that the amount of rapes in the military (Which is much far less than those that occur on college campus but those are OK) are caused by the "warrior culture", itself (According to Dempsey) a product of restricting combat positions to men. In a statement made at a drag queen (Yes really) event held on an Air Force Base, the commanding general of the base may actually not have lied, but I just don't know what she said:

“I would ask you to also give space to people to be authentically who they are so that they have the opportunity to replace to move a little bit what might be a stereotype and replace it with who they are authentically,” she said.

Obama of course referred to the Benghazi probe and other investigations of  disgraceful acts as a "phony Scandals".

“With an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball,” Obama said in an economic address at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill."

Try to go an entire week reading quotes in the news without coming across several  blatant lies.
