The world is fact becoming fully unglued.
The main part of California's Proposition 8 gets overturned by the Supreme Court, yet we keep reading opinions that the Court is telling us that marriage laws are the domain of individual states. If someone can help me here I would appreciate it - If the Court held that marriage laws are supposed to be handled by the states, why (Or how) did the same Court- simultaneously, strike down a state law on marriage?
[I was sent the following post with an explanation. As those who were responsible for defending the law refused do so*, those who did defend it before the Court were held not to have proper standing, so the appeal was dismissed. The whole thing looked like a set-up from the beginning. A referendum, having been put to vote and passed by the people, is subsequently ignored by the elected and appointed officials of that same state.]

In Florida, atheists betrayed their patently incurious and anti-intellectual attitude (Not by unveiling their monument to atheism which was placed next to one on the Ten Commandments, which was bad enough) by their choice of "proof" to support their position that Judeo-Christian belief and thought had no place in the founding of our nation. Their choice of quotes for the front of the monument was probably the worst one possible. It came from the period of the attacks on American shipping by the Islamic pirates of the Barbary Coast:
"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
Did even one of the atheists on the (Presumed) committee to design the monument even consider the circumstances under which this statement was put into the treaty with the piratical Tripolitanian state? A cursory reading of the history of our conflict and wars with the Barbary states would make that clear - these were Islamic states. Their emissaries of that time made it painfully clear that they preyed on non-Muslim nations because the Koran decreed such practices to be, if anything, mandatory. The US, then having no deep-water fleet that could be deployed that far away and for any length of time, needed to buy the practical states off with tribute money. In order to detach our nation as much as possible from the label as a Christian nation, John Adams needed to make sure that the treaty itself (Which would be signed by the Pasha or his representative) had specific language that took any talk of Christianity out of the picture and made the extortion-inspired bargaining purely about money.
Atheists never cease to amaze me with their ignorance. They actually spent money on a monument that has a quote that was - beyond a shadow of a doubt, only written to make it easier for us to negotiate tribute prices with a piratical state. If one desires to win an argument or just make a point, which I assume these atheists wanted to to, he doesn't utilize statements made by people when under any form of duress. It does nothing to prove their point.
John Adams also said this:
In Syria, the rebels have stormed a monastery and promptly went to work beheading people (Islamic style - with a knife, not a sword or an ax), the first one of them being a Catholic priest, all before a cheering group of men and boys.
"....In video posted by Live Leak purporting to show the execution, dozens of men and boys are seen cheering on as three men are seated on the ground awaiting their grisly fate.
The men are methodically beheaded one at a time by men holding what appears to be a simple kitchen knife after which the heads are placed on top of the bodies.
According to Catholic Online, the first victim was Murad. [The priest]
A frenzy ensues, with dozens drawing out their smartphones to capture the bloody scene, as a chorus of Allahu Akbar (“Allah is the greatest”) are sung with jihadi rapture. Several observers are seen moving within inches of the bodies in an effort to capture close-up photos.
Catholic Online is raising alarm that western nations are providing support to the rebels who have shown a proclivity toward persecuting Christians:
'This should make it clear to Christians around the world what jihadists are about. Make no mistake. Catholics and Christians around the globe are under dire threat, particularly from the spread of militant Islam. Until the threat is recognized and taken seriously, martyrdoms like this will continue.'........"
-and the US is feeding weapons to these people via Jordan:
When is the US going to stop assisting the rebels? They claim that Assad employed chemical weapons, but we have been given no real evidence other than the word of the Obama administration, which by its very nature is less than dubious. Even if they did, we can still say that the Syrian army has not gone about attacking Christian communities and beheading people.
The US is a nation in which Christianity has, if not a clear majority of adherents, at least a definite plurality. The US also has a solid history of Christian belief, yet our money is being used to arm thugs who murder innocent people, many of whom are coreligionists with the bulk of the citizenry of the US.
The administration is not going to stop unless we put the full-court press on them. Representatives and Senators must be called to encourage them to step up and call for an end to this ongoing evil. This has got to stop.
