Our contributor Scipio pointed out a glaring omission of mine. My failure was all the more unforgivable as I had only recently read a book on the wars between the United States and the piratical, slave-taking states of the Barbary coast. The rulers of these backward and parasitical entities , following the tenets if their religion, cited the Koran repeatedly to US officials in support of their seizures of ships and crews, and the never-ending and always-increasing demands for tribute to allow our vessels to sail unmolested.
Scipio noted that, in addition to John Paul Jones, I should have mentioned the heroes of the US naval actions of those days. It would certainly be they who are rolling over in their graves as our period of victimization and sacrifices for freedom from enslavement by Islamic pirates will be ignored, in the Naval Academy of all places. Below are links to the stories of two of our greatest naval commanders of that era whose accomplishments are being disgraced:

Hat tip to Jihad Watch.
The US military has undergone a major transformation in the content of its training courses, particularly for those geared towards commissioned officers and officer cadets/midshipmen.
The Leftist influence has up until now had more coverage. Courses that cover the evils of colonialism and paint the term "meritocracy" as a new opiate of the masses - designed by private interests to make gullible Americans think that they have a fighting chance to succeed, have become commonplace.
In the case of Islam, most military training courses have been restricted to bogus claims that the Islamic world in angry at the West for the Crusades. The serviceman, bereft of any historical learning in primary school, is taught about a blip on the radar of Christian history and left unaware of 1,400 years of far more vicious Islamic aggression. As an aside, since the Muslims won the Crusades in every instance except Spain and Portugal, they never complained about it until General Allenby brought his British forces into Jerusalem as the Ottoman Empire was collapsing. Only then did Crusades even begin to enter the Islamic lexicon as something about which to complain.
The US Naval Academy, commonly referred to by the name of the town in which it is located, Annapolis, Maryland, now has a real deal of a Muslim professor who will tell our Midshipmen (Also fresh out of primary schools and thus unaware of any significant amount of history) who will enlighten us about why we in the West are still being attacked after all these 1,400 years.
"According to promotional material, a United States Naval Academy professor is teaching on behalf of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), a part of the US Muslim Brotherhood and where global Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi reportedly serves as a trustee. IIIT recently announced its Summer Students Program for 2013 to be held from May 26 – July 3. According to the IIIT announcement, one of the instructors for the program will be Professor Ermin Sinanovic, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland who will be teaching the following course titled “Muslim World Affairs”:
Here is a synopsis of the course:
"This course is meant to provide students who had little or no background on the Muslim world with a basic understanding of its contemporary history, its geopolitics, its diverse cultures, languages and ethnic groups. Also, the course introduces the key issues and developments that framed the relationship between the world of Islam and the West, such as the colonial encounter, the capitalist expansion of the West, the emergence of the nation-state and its institutions, the discovery of oil in the Middle East and its implications, the communication revolution and contemporary globalization and their impact on cultures, values and life styles; and finally the US foreign policy towards the Muslim world and its implications. This course will be covered in twelve hours. Instructor: Professor Ermin Sinanovic, US Naval Academy, Maryland."

Don't be fooled by the southern Slavic name of the professor. It is not rare for some people in the Balkans to be descended from those who converted to Islam to avoid higher taxes and the taking of their children for sex and soldier-slavery. I will hazard to guess that Professor Sinanovic will not be covering that delicate topic in his class.
I think that the second sentence says it all. The Islamic invasions and seizures of the Byzantine Empire, the Catholic lands of North Africa and the Iberian peninsula, Sicily and Southern/Central Italy, France, Greece and all of the Balkans, two full-blown sieges of Vienna (The most recent being 1683 - only one hundred years before the UK recognized the American Republic, with all of the piratical depredations and lots and lots of seizures of European sex-slaves will be conspicuously left out.
What the soon-to-be United States naval officers, who worship in a chapel under which John Paul Jones' sepulcher is located, and attend an institution that produced some of our most illustrious naval commanders, will be told something along theses lines:
(Note that I doubt that Prof. Sinanovic will actually include anything about Islamic aggression, but I am also playing devil's advocate.)
Well mostly everything was OK between Islam and the West. Sure, Muslims kind of waltzed in and assumed control of Byzantine-ruled regions, but heh, many of those people were not fond of Byzantine rule anyway. (What will be left out is that the rule under Islam tuned out to be immeasurably worse). And yes, they did assume control of the Iberian peninsula, but the evil Christians then started a war to take it back. (The extinction of Christianity in North Africa will certainly not be mentioned at all.)
Things were pretty good. Muslims rulers were even nice enough to allow Christian pilgrimages to Jerusalem and other holy places (When Muslims were not creating false narratives about the same places having something to do with Islam). Then, angered that the new Seljuk rulers blocked these pilgrimages (A very candy-coated version), Pope Urban II preached the benefits of Crusading. It was horrible; Muslims were faced for the first time with a army that fought for its faith - something completely foreign in Islam. Eventually these invaders were pushed out, and things were OK once more.
In the 19th century, the European powers ganged up on the Ottomans when they were in a state of decline (In reality, they fought each other to keep the Ottomans in power so no European nation could become too strong). The European powers also colonized the Sudan and other African Muslim nations (Stopping black slavery by Muslims in those regions did not make this OK to Prof. Sinanovic I assume). In Egypt, the building of the Suez canal was an act of piracy. The British even had the gall to match the corruption of the Persian rulers in modern-day Iran.
Then came WWI. The British and French tricked the Ottomans into allying with Germany and Austria-Hungary (Actually they repeatedly pleaded with them to remain neutral). Following WWI, the British and French engaged in colonialism (Only Muslims can do this).
Then came oil [I forgot to mention all of those Arabian companies that were fully capable of extracting crude oil but were callously brushed aside by the Western conglomerates], WWII and the British conspiracy to install the Zionist state (And the ensuing support of Western countries for that apartheid country). As if that was not enough, the US began to bring armies that had (gasp) Christians in them into Saudi Arabia and other Muslims nations.
Now that we are aware of all this, maybe we can understand why it is that they hate us.
Chavez, although a dolt of dolts, was smart enough to initiate a program in which military academies and all training courses would feed the students a steady diet of Marxist thought. He knew that it was the most effective means of ensuring control of the machinery of government, preparing the military for a possible suppression of revolts of the people, and the prevention of any military coups.
Get the officers on board and we got this thing licked.
