Jihad Threat on US Southern Border

http://www.raymondibrahim.com/11686/mexican-jihad

Raymond Ibrahim recently noted that Hezbollah has been preparing for the launching of Jihad into the US from Mexico:

"As the United States considers the Islamic jihadi threats confronting it from all sides, it would do well to focus on its southern neighbor, Mexico, which has been targeted by Islamists and jihadists, who, through a number of tactics—from engaging in da'wa, converting Mexicans to Islam, to smuggling and the drug cartel, simple extortion, kidnappings and enslavement—have been subverting Mexico in order to empower Islam and sabotage the U.S.

According to a 2010 report, "Close to home: Hezbollah terrorists are plotting right on the U.S. border," which appeared in the NY Daily News:

Mexican authorities have rolled up a Hezbollah network being built in Tijuana, right across the border from Texas and closer to American homes than the terrorist hideouts in the Bekaa Valley are to Israel. Its goal, according to a Kuwaiti newspaper that reported on the investigation: to strike targets in Israel and the West. Over the years, Hezbollah—rich with Iranian oil money and narcocash—has generated revenue by cozying up with Mexican cartels to smuggle drugs and people into the U.S. In this, it has shadowed the terrorist-sponsoring regime in Tehran, which has been forging close ties with Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, who in turn supports the narco terrorist organization FARC, which wreaks all kinds of havoc throughout the region."

The article also notes that appreciable numbers of Mexican citizens, particularly Mayans in the southern Mexican States such as Chiapas, have been converting to Islam:

"As far back as 2005, an article entitled "Islam is gaining a Foothold in Chiapas" showcased the inroads of Islam in Mexico:

Long a bastion of Catholicism, southern Mexico is quickly turning into a battleground for soul-savers. Islam, too, is gaining a foothold and the indigenous Mayans are converting by the hundreds. The Mexican government is worried about a culture clash in their own backyard… Muslim women in headscarves have become a common sight….

To appreciate the significance of the fact that Muslim headscarves "have become a common sight" in Mexico, consider the words of former jihadist Tawfik Hamid, who personally knew al-Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahiri. In his book, Inside Jihad, he writes: "The proliferation of the hijab [Muslim headscarves] is strongly correlated with increased terrorism…. Terrorism became much more frequent in such societies as Indonesia, Egypt, Algeria, and the U.K. after the hijab became prevalent among Muslim women living in those communities."

After discussing an increase in converts to Islam, the article continues by saying: "It's a development that is beginning to worry the Mexican government. Indeed, the government even suspects the new converts of subversive activity and has already set the secret service onto the track of the Mayan Muslims. Mexican President Vincente Fox has even gone so far as to say he fears the influence of the radical fundamentalists of al-Qaida.' "

"The threat is not limited to Hezbollah; back in 2006, according to ISN, "Mexican authorities investigated the activities of the Murabitun* [a da'wa, or missionary-outreach, organization named after historic jihadists along Spain's borders] due to reports of alleged immigration and visa abuses involving the group's European members and possible radicals, including al-Qaeda."

*It is noteworthy that the "missionary-outreach" group is named after the Murabits. This was the name of a Muslim Berber Dynasty from North Africa. In the early 11th century AD, the Umayyad Caliphate, which had survived in Spain and Portugal long after its destruction and the following institution of the Abbasid Caliphate in the Middle East, broke up when Arab and Berber Muslims began to engage in civil war. The decentralization of Islamic power in the Iberian Peninsula allowed for the Christian Kingdoms of the North to regain more of their lands and to take the time to assume a more dominant military position versus the Muslims States. By the end of the 11th and beginning of the 12th Century, the Murabits, who had established themselves across the Straight of Gibraltar some time earlier, moved into Iberia and unified the Muslim States in Spain and Portugal under their rule. This dynasty, strengthened by their gains and consolidation of military power of Muslims in Iberia, was able to put a temporary halt to the appreciable gains that the Christian Kingdoms were making is their long and arduous process of reclaiming their land (Toledo had been recently retaken by the Kingdom of Leon and Castille-that was how the Kingdom was labeled at the time.).

Although the Leftist version of history provides a picture of an 800-year rule in the Iberian Peninsula, this is very deceiving; four hundred years before the final expulsion of the last Muslim armies from the tiny and reduced in size Emirate of Granada (1492), the Iberian Kingdoms had already retaken half of the Peninsula. By the end of the 13th century, all save Granada was in Christian hands.
So when one hears that Spanish people need to get back to their Muslim roots, he is hearing hogwash; Muslims did not even arrive until the 8th century and the Peninsula was a frontier State from that point until 1492.

Back to the story - We have been told a  lot of things about our security on our Southern border and most of it is false. The threat is real, concerned citizens who live along the border are not alarmists or white supremacists, and we need a completed and effective fence that is both properly maintained and patrolled. I recall a conversation with a coworker around 2007 in which the subject of the fence came up. He spoke about the fence very matter-of-factly. The problem was that he did not mention many actual facts. What he stated was that we are spending a lot of money on a fence that won't work. To me, this was a typical example of a Leftist outlook; what will happen will happen, history is marching on, it is no use to combat illegal immigration, narco-terrorism, or Jihad on our border, and we should just accept all of these as inevitable.

It is no different that the mentality of other Leftists who seek to impose Marxist rule in the US. While they force illegal immigration down out throats and render us impotent in taking preventative measures, we are supposed to accept that massive numbers of presumably eventual liberal-voting recipients of amnesty programs will turn the electoral tide over them. Once that happens, we are supposed to take what they dish out to us lying down. Their mindset is that this is happening and how it is going to be and you have no right to resist. I have noted previously that US Leftists have no real desire to live in Marxist nation. If they did, they could emigrate to one. Their problem is you. They are more bothered by the fact that you are allowed to live in a Non-Marxist nation than they are that they do not yet live in one themselves.

The Cartels also have been busy. While Mr. Ibrahim's article notes that Hezbollah has been working with the Cartels (Hey, the friend of my enemy is my friend), they have continued with dropping off headless bodies in an effort to paralyze their countrymen and us with fear:

In the Cartels, we are looking at the resurrection of a mentality of a barbaric culture that prevailed in Mexico prior to the arrival of the Spanish, Yes, the Spanish were far from being just a bunch of nice guys, but they were nothing compared to the Aztecs. Their murderous culture was designed not to destroy the abilities of other tribes to harm them, but to keep them in subjection in order to provide a ready pool of sacrificial victims for the insatiable appetites of their gods. Ritual cannibalism was also part of their world:

With Hezbollah and possibly other Jihadi groups cooperating with the Cartels, we are faced with a perfect storm of two barbaric cultures combining to harm the US and its citizens. If the Cartels are able to create enough chaos to justify the institution of a Leftist government in Mexico to restore order, we will have yet another factor added in. Such a government would likely have to qualms about facilitating the flow of drugs, criminals, and Islamic terrorists across our Southern border.
