The Chairman of the Libyan Transitional Council recently stated that the "core" of Libyan law will come from Islam. He went on to say that "Any law that contradicts Islam will be considered void".

Radical liberals and those of the left were singing the praises of the rebels a few months ago. They could not get enough of the fact that some of them wanted Western clothing and music and offered these trifles to prove that the uprising was comprised of liberals. It looks to me that the events in Libya could be very close to those of the Iranian Revolution. The liberal elite were all over that event too when it occurred and seemed convinced that some sort of free-spirited Socialism was bound to be put into place.
The Hot Gates - 480BC. An event that was to determine what path much of the Western World would follow occurred as the Persian army threatened to overwhelm Greece in 480BC. The West today again faces both external and internal threats to its identity and existence.
